What to ask, and why

The skunk is gone but the smell came back after it rained. Did the last treatment fail?

Likely the residue was masked, not neutralized. Skunk oil reactivates with moisture, so treatment has to break it down where it soaked in: deck boards, soil under the porch, insulation, and any fabric it hit.

Will an odor company just spray perfume around?

It shouldn't. Ask whether synthetic fragrance, ozone, or bleach will be used. The aim is a neutral-smelling house, not one that smells like flowers on top of skunk.

Do I need a wildlife company and an odor company?

Usually both. A licensed wildlife operator removes the animal and seals the opening; odor treatment follows. Treating while a skunk still lives under the porch just invites another spray.

Will I know the cost before work starts?

You should. Ask for a written quote before any work begins, after the provider has found where the spray landed.

Can my furnace spread it again later?

If odor was pulled into the return air, the ducts can hold it. Ask whether the whole-space treatment will include the HVAC system.
